Scientific evidence points out that the environment in which we live is one of the main determinants of health, as it directly and indirectly influences aspects such as air quality, noise, lifestyles, or social relationships. It also impacts the incidence of certain diseases or conditions, such as depression, anxiety, respiratory, or cardiovascular illnesses.
Urban planning, urbanisation conditions, and the built environment become key elements that define the health status of the population and can serve as tools for health promotion. Considering all of this, the Healthy Cities team, developed an Urban Health Strategy for Subirats City Council, which aims to identify priority actions at the local level based on the health needs of the population.
A number of sessions were conducted to engage the local community and ensure the new Strategy integrated their needs and aspirations.
