Marta Rofín (Healthy Cities) was invited by the Federation of Catalan Municipalities (FMC) to deliver a session on Health Impact Assessment for Urban Planning.
Starting with an introduction to the evidence behind health and the built environment, we then presented our model of the Urban Determinants of Health, and key considerations for urban practitioners to incorporate HIA in their day-to-day work. Representatives for different municipalities across Catalunya were introduced to our method, and learnt about the variety of tools that can support them when it comes to integrating health into the urban planning process.
To conclude, we presented some of our most recent case studies, providing examples and learnings from both the local and international context.
